Last week, Confluence told you
all about the Imagine 2020 grants awarded by the the City of Denver in support of fresh ideas meant to engage residents with the cultural opportunities around them. This week, the list of 2017 winners is out.
In all, 19 recipients were selected and they’ll split $75,000.
The list includes some familiar names in Denver culture, such as the Denver Young Artists Orchestra, whch will produce a symposium for women in music; the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, which plans to develop its film series; and the Swallow Hill music venue, which wants to create sensory-friendly concerts for folks uncomfortable at loud, light-enhanced performances.
But there are also some interesting new entries, such as ArtHyve, which is creating an archive for Denver artists across genres (read about that effort
here), and the Denver Public Library, which will bring on an in-house podcaster (namely Paul Karolyi, who also contributes great pieces
like this to Confluence.)
